Anaheim Packing District - Anaheim, CA

This one's for all my foodies out there. Whether you like Vietnamese food, Indian food, fish and chips, barbecue, or sandwiches, there is something for everyone at the Anaheim Packing District. The Anaheim Packing District is comprised of a bunch of different restaurants under one roof. I usually tend to go here with my family and we all get something different so we can share and get a bite of everything.

This time, I decided to get my food from The Kroft, where I had a prime ribeye dip and a braised short rib poutine. If you're not sure what poutine is, it's basically Heaven on earth: fries, gravy, and cheese curds. This type of poutine of course had short rib, as well as sauteed mushrooms. I cannot say enough good things about this dish! It's just the best.

And you just can't come here without stopping by to get a Pop Bar! With an array of different popGelatos and popSorbettos, you pick a flavor and can then customize it with different toppings. My personal favorite is the green tea popGelato, half dipped in milk chocolate and waffle cone, and drizzled with white chocolate. The perfect combination that tastes just like a Green Tea Kit Kat. (And is one of their most popular orders!)
The Anaheim Packing District is a great place to go with a group of hungry friends. Parking can be a little tricky, as it's mainly just street parking, but I've never had a problem. I love that I can come here and there's ALWAYS something that sounds, looks or smells delicious!

Ferraro's Italian Kitchen - Long Beach, CA

This past week, my family and I decided to pass on our usual, go-to Italian restaurant and try somewhere we hadn't been in years, Ferraro's Italian Kitchen. This restaurant is located on N. Los Coyotes Diagonal and Palo Verde. The menu has everything from salads to pizza to pasta to fish dishes.

I had the choice of soup or salad with my entree, so I opted for the pasta faggioli, which is a traditional Italian soup with pasta and different kids of beans. This is one of my favorite soups!

My brother ordered the fettuccine carbonara, which is a pasta that has bacon and garlic in a thick, creamy sauce tossed in fettuccine noodles.

How good does this pizza look?! My mom ordered the Naples pizza, which had olive oil, garlic, sliced tomatoes, sun dried tomatoes, fresh basil and mozzarella cheese. I had to try a bite! It was delicious.

And here's what I ordered, one of the specials of the night: wild mushroom ravioli. Mushrooms are one of my favorite vegetables, so I knew I would enjoy this dish. I even had leftovers to take home to enjoy the next day.

If you're in the area, I definitely recommend checking out Ferraro's. Their menu is huge and has so many different dishes. You can tell the restaurant is family owned, which is my favorite type of restaurant. The food was fresh, the service was great, and I'll be back for sure.

Lemonade - Newport Beach, CA

This weekend was such a tease of summer! It was a perfect 80 degrees out, so a friend and I ventured to do some shopping at our favorite outdoor mall, Fashion Island in Newport Beach. Naturally, we got hungry, so we decided to get some lunch at one of our favorite spots, Lemonade. Lemonade is best described as "Seasonal Southern California Comfort Food in a fast-casual cafeteria setting."

You take a tray, go down the line and tell them exactly what you want. You're charged by the portion, and prices range depending on the section you choose from (marketplace, hot market veggies, land + sea, etc.). I think the prices are pretty fair, I got lunch for around $11.00, including a lemonade. I think the quality of the food is great and you can tell everything is extremely fresh. My sandwich, pictured below, was made to order.

This is what my friend opted to get: broccoli with ricotta cheese in a champagne vinaigrette, paired with white truffle mac 'n cheese. (I have tried both before and both are DELICIOUS.)

I chose my favorite roasted brussels sprouts with carmelized onions and a new grilled cheese I had never tried before. I usually get the mac 'n cheese, but I was not disappointed by this grilled cheese at all! Can you tell I really love cheese? :)

Kampai Sushi House - Los Alamitos, CA

Recently my Holy Grail sushi spot closed for remodeling. My family is HUGE on sushi, so this was a really big deal. We usually go once a week, sometimes even twice a week. So when our go to place closed a few months ago, we were left without sushi for a few weeks until we decided to venture out and try some place new. After looking on Yelp, we decided to try Kampai Sushi House in Los Alamitos. We were all very pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food, as well as the great prices and deals going on all day.

We shared a few rolls and each got a bento box. The premium rolls and bento boxes were both buy one, get one half off. My brother picked out the first roll, the Dragon Roll, which had shrimp tempura and crab, topped with eel and avocado. It even came plated looking like a dragon! How cool!

I picked out the Cherry Blossom Roll which was a California Roll topped with salmon and tuna shaped like flower petals. Again, plated so beautifully!

The Bento Box, which is $12, comes with miso soup, rice, and salad, as well as a choice of two items ranging from chicken teriyaki, mixed tempura and a Philadelphia Roll. (I got a California Roll and a Crunchy Roll, as shown below.)

You could tell that all the food was made fresh to order. The sushi was plated so beautifully, it was tough for me to eat it! I’m so thankful that I found this sushi restaurant in the area, so now I have two places to go to when I need my sushi fix.
